Mobile PET/CT uMI 550! – No Barriers, No Waiting!

Our first installation in Germany!

At the beginning of June, we completed the installation of the second United Imaging uMI 550 mobile system in Europe. The new owner of this innovative system is Alliance Medical Germany.

Alliance Medical Germany is part of the international Alliance Medical Group – a leading provider of diagnostic imaging services in Europe, offering mobile diagnostic solutions for over 33 years. The company specialises in providing advanced diagnostic services such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET) and X-ray examinations Alliance Medical Germany has a reputation for high quality patient care, state-of-the-art technology and operational efficiency. Alliance Medical supports both public and private hospitals/clinics in performing patient scans. Its services are available throughout Germany and Europe.

With mobile MRI, CT and PET-CT, the company has proven its ability to reduce waiting lists and maximise patient throughput, while keeping patient experience at the forefront of everything it does.

With more than 500 radiologists and clinical support staff on its payroll, Alliance Medical rarely needs to rely on temporary agency staff. In addition, Alliance Medical uses a resource allocation planning system to ensure that the right people with the right skills are deployed in the right places.

The company places great emphasis on a personalised approach to each patient, ensuring comfort and support at every stage of the examination. Modern equipment and a patient-friendly examination environment help to minimise stress and discomfort, which is particularly important when diagnosing children and the elderly. Alliance Medical has a consistently high patient satisfaction rate of around 97%.

United Imaging’s uMI 550 is an advanced mobile PET/CT (positron emission tomography/computed tomography) system housed in a custom-built truck that allows it to be used in a variety of locations, including those with limited access to advanced diagnostic imaging. The key features and functionalities of the uMI 550 are:

Mobility and accessibility:

  • Mobile platform: the uMI 550 is installed in a custom-built truck, allowing it to be easily transported to various locations such as hospitals, clinics, and rural areas.
  • Ready to use: The system is designed to be ready for use immediately upon arrival at the site, minimising installation and calibration time.

Advanced PET/CT imaging technology, clinical versatility, innovative technology solutions and patient comfort:

  • High image resolution: the uMI 550 offers exceptional image quality thanks to advanced PET/CT imaging technology, enabling accurate diagnostic examinations.
  • Precise scanning: the system provides precise scanning through the use of advanced detectors and image reconstruction software, which is critical for accurate diagnosis.
  • Ergonomic design: the truck is designed with patient comfort in mind, with a spacious interior and easy access to the unit.
  • Minimised discomfort: noise reduction technology and other solutions improve patient comfort during examinations.
  • Wide range of applications: the uMI 550 can be used in oncology, cardiology, neurology and other medical fields where precise PET/CT imaging is required.
  • Advanced clinical software: the system supports a variety of imaging protocols and techniques, allowing examinations to be tailored to specific clinical needs.
  • Integration with hospital systems: the uMI 550 can be easily integrated with other IT systems in hospitals and clinics, making it easy to manage patient data and examination results.
  • Artificial intelligence (AI): AI is used in image analysis and to optimise imaging processes to improve diagnostic accuracy.
  • Advanced detectors: the system is equipped with state-of-the-art detectors that enable highly sensitive and specific imaging, which is critical for accurate diagnostic results.
  • It is cost-effective to purchase a mobile system while the hospital room where a scanner would be located is used for other diagnostic purposes.
  • Scanners tend to be replaced more frequently than if they were purchased by the hospitals themselves, keeping the technology up to date.

The truck enables advanced diagnostic imaging to be delivered to rural and remote areas where access to traditional medical facilities is limited. The uMI 550 mobile system can ease the burden on hospitals and clinics that have limited resources or are overburdened, especially when demand for diagnostic services spikes.
